It is better to have a waste- to - energy plan in Lebanon even after few years. It would be much better than never. The journey of 1000 miles starts from first step. Hope that Lebanon has started the first steps which are showing up hopefully in Sidon. In Beirut , they are trying to make electricity from solar energy by putting solar cells in empty spaces. Moreover, the central bank is offering subsidized loans for companies to get solar energy heaters that can reduce consumption of electricity. This is something good as Solar cells are globally getting cheaper and more efficient year after year.
Worldwide , 19 % of all energy consumed globally is from renewable resources like hydroelectric, solar, wind, geothermal and bio fuel in 2012 and 2013 according to a Wikipedia source. We hope that the gradual improvement in renewable energy technologies in the world would influence Lebanon positively.
Hope for a better Lebanon in the future even if development is imported from outside.
